BAPTISM OF TH= E HOLY GHOST – ANOINTED OR FILLED

CHAPTER   2

The English word “Baptism”, was trans= lated from the Greek word, “baptizma” or “baptisis,” which means a dipping to put under; and “baptizo”, which means to dip= or immerse. The word is employed for both water and Spirit baptisms. To be fil= led with the Holy Spirit is to be baptized or immersed into the Spirit of God. Water is a type of the Holy Spirit: St. John 4:14 <…= water springing up into everlasting life>. St. John 7: 37-38 < …rivers of l= iving water…the Spirit…Holy Ghost>. Baptism, filled or anointed are words used interchangeably= in scriptures to describe the unity of God’s Spirit with mortal man, in both the Old and New Testament.=

        &= nbsp;       Two remarkable differences of the Old Testament baptism are:<= /p>

A. The recipients had the baptism of the Holy Spir= it, without the born again experie= nce. This was also repeated under the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ in its initial stage.=

B. <= /span>The baptism of the Holy Ghost was limited to the ministry of prophets, priests, Judges, Kings, Elders and prophesiers. Howev= er, it was promised, by prophecy, to all people, by the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. (Joel 2 & Acts 2:38-39).

        &= nbsp;       Prophets anointed - baptism of th= e Holy Ghost without the new birth: (John = 3:3-5 – 1 Pet 1:23). Christ was in the prophets: I Peter= 1:11 <…the Spirit= of Christ which was in them [The prophets].>

II Ki= ngs 2:9 <…a double portion of thy spirit be upon me…The spirit of El= ijah doth rest on Elisha.>

Numbers 11:25 <And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him [the p= rophet Moses].>

High= priest & priests anointed – baptism of the Holy Ghost:

Levit= icus 4:3 <If the priest that is anointed= do sin according to the sin of the people; then let him bring for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto the LORD for a s= in offering.>

Leviticus 6:20 <This [is] the offering of Aar= on and of his sons, which they shall offer unto the LORD in the day when he is anointed; the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a meat offering perpetual, half of it in the morning, and half thereof at night.>

Leviticus 8:12 <And he poured of the anointing= oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.>=

Numbe= rs 3:3 <These [are] the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office.><= /o:p>

        &= nbsp;

Prop= hetess anointed – baptism or the= Holy Ghost:

&n= bsp;            = ;   Miriam: Exodus 15:20 <And Mi= riam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the wo= men went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

&n= bsp;            = ;   Debo= rah: Judge= s 4:4 <… And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.>

        &= nbsp;       Huld= ah: II Ki= ngs 22:14-15 <…Huldah the prophetess… she said unto them, Thus s= aith the LORD God of Isra= el…>

Judg= es anointed – baptism of the= Holy Ghost:

Samson: Judges 14:5-6 <Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: an= d, behold, a young lion roared against him.

And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon hi= m, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and [he had] nothing in his hand: = but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.>

Judges 15:14 <And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily u= pon him, and the cords that [were] upon his arms became as flax that was burnt = with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.>

Samuel: I Samuel 7: 6 < …Samuel judged the children of Israel.<= /st1:country-region>>

        &= nbsp;       Gideon: Judges 6:34 <…the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon.>

Kings anointed – baptism of the= Holy Ghost:

&n= bsp;            = ;   Saul: I Samuel 10:1,6 <Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his he= ad, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to = be captain over his inheritance?

̷= 0; And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with th= em, and shalt be turned into another man.>

David: I Samuel 16:13-14 <Then Samuel took the horn = of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon Davi= d from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.>

Solomon: I Kings 1:39 <And Zadok the pri= est took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they b= lew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.>=

Jehu: Then take the box of oil, and pour [it] on his head, and say, Thus saith the LOR= D, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.>

Elde= rs anointed – baptism of the= Holy Ghost: Numbers 11:25 <…And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took = of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it c= ame to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did n= ot cease.>
